Yes this is true! Our happiness lies in our gut which is weird because most people would believe that happiness comes from our brain.

The gut provides approximately 95% of total body serotonin, most of which exists in plasma.” This means that how you eat and drink is how you think. They found that people with Major Depressive Disorder have dysbiosis in their gut. Dysbiosis in the gut means an imbalance in bacterial composition. This could be from overgrowth of harmful bacteria, loss of good bacteria, or loss in diversity.

You can see how depression is linked to your gut when we use antibiotics. When we take an antibiotic, we lose both the good and bad bacteria. We lose diversity, and some good bacteria will take months to come back, if they ever come back. People who take antibiotics may be at risk of anxiety and depression. So it makes sense how less bacteria in your gut could lead you to feel unhappy. But there are ways to change that.

My next post will be about how you can increase serotonin levels. I could keep writing, but we all have lives. I hope this helps.

I am not a healthcare professional just someone who is interested in learning about health. Thank you 🙂
